How do I deal with a wet mobile phone?

We’ve all had that heart-dropping moment: a phone slips from our grasp and plunges into water. Swift action can sometimes save the day.

Immediate Actions

  1. Switch Off and Remove: Turn off the phone immediately and, if possible, remove the battery. Extract the SIM card and memory card as well.
  2. Drain Excess Water: Gently shake the device to rid it of surplus water.
  3. Dry with a Cloth: Use a soft cloth to dab and absorb any visible moisture.
  4. Avoid Heat: Refrain from using a hairdryer or placing the phone on a radiator; it could cause further damage.
  5. Silica Gel or Uncooked Rice: Place the phone in a bag with silica gel packets or uncooked rice for 24-48 hours. These can absorb the moisture effectively.

Remember, even if your phone seems fine after the incident, moisture might still be inside. Avoid switching it on immediately after the drying process.
